Canadian Music Week and Radiodays North America is excited to announce that Lorna Clarke, Director of Music, BBC, will be presenting a keynote address on Monday, June 3, at 9:00 AM ET at the Radiodays North America Conference. Please note that the session will also be open to music summit delegates on June 3rd. The conference, now in its second year, will take place from June 2 – 4, 2024, at the Westin Harbour Castle in Toronto, Canada.

With over 30 years of broadcasting experience, Lorna has firmly established herself as a key figure within the BBC. As Director of Music, Lorna is overseeing Radio 1, Radio 2, 6 Music, Radio 1Xtra, Asian Network, and shaping BBC Radio’s music strategy, contributing significantly to the BBC’s success.

Lorna is deeply committed to supporting up-and-coming artists at the BBC, for instance, the artist Raye has been supported early on in her career by BBC Radio 1. Witnessing Raye’s growth, from that initial support to gracing the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury in 2023, shows the impact of the BBC’s dedication to nurturing new talent.

Starting as a news reporter at BBC Radio Cornwall in 1985, Lorna transitioned to commercial radio with Kiss 100 FM as a producer in 1990. By 1994, she became Programme Director at Kiss 100, winning Programme Director of the Year at the Commercial Radio awards.

In 1997, Lorna returned to the BBC as Head of Mainstream Programmes for Radio 1. At BBC Television from 2003, she led initiatives to discover emerging talent and directed the Electric Proms from 2005 to 2010, featuring artists like Adele and Sir Paul McCartney.

In 2010, she managed networks like Radio 2 and 6 Music before becoming Controller of Pop in 2019. By May 2022, she oversaw BBC Radio’s music strategy, including classical music and The Proms, curating a successful Rolling Stones anniversary season and achieving record viewership for Glastonbury in 2023 with 23 million viewers.

Join us for loads of impactful sessions, workshops, and networking opportunities at Radiodays North America conference, happening from June 2nd to 4th at the Westin Harbour Castle in Toronto.
